Currently, around 40 to 42 million people in the world are engaged in the profession of prostitution, more than eighty percent are women, while the remaining twenty percent are eunuchs and men, women between the ages of thirteen and twenty-five years old respectively, have a good amount of money in this profession. China, India and America are leading in this profession of prostitution. According to a figure, a prostitute in America earns from three hundred dollars to five hundred dollars per call per day, while in England twenty-seven to thirty thousand pounds per year, in Dubai five hundred dirhams to four thousand five hundred dirhams per hour, in India From six thousand to twenty five thousand Indian rupees per night, while in Pakistan three thousand to fifteen thousand rupees are being earned per night.

Before Zia-ul-Haq's martial law, there were designated areas for prostitution in Pakistan, like the rest of the world, such as Bazaar-e-Hussan inside Texali Gate in Lahore, Haram Gate in Multan, areas adjacent to Qisa-Khwani Bazaar in Peshawar, Qasaaie Galli in Rawalpindi, and so on. Hyderabad and Karachi also had specific areas where people used to go and put out their body fire.
