The world faces another threat - will current farming be able to meet the nutritional needs of a growing population?

Growing Population and Malnutrition Is the World Going to Starve?

193 million people in 53 countries are food insecure and needing urgent assistance

The world is busy meeting increasing food needs

Ahmad Saghir - Islamabad

A healthy body has a healthy mind.  But if the body is weak, the mind within it will also be sluggish.  Humans have always done a lot for the health of the body, in which the best food was at the top.  But as the population continued to grow, malnutrition became a serious problem for humans. There was a time when humans kept animals in their homes, buffaloes, cows, goats, chickens, all of which were bred in human homes. Humans got energy and strength from their milk, butter, cheese, eggs and meat.

But then the increasing population started to increase the problems of humans.  He was crushed in the mill of time in such a way that everything was forgotten. It was not possible for humans to raise cows, buffaloes, goats or chickens.  And this work started to be done on commercial basis.

It became more difficult to meet the nutritional needs of the growing population.  Suddenly, a different kind of industry started to gain a foothold in the world and that was the poultry industry.  Not only this, but cattle farming, goat farming and aqua culture also started to grow their claws.  In the changing world, not only GMO food but also animals started coming.  Through modified engineering, chicks and eggs were created that had special diets and gained enough weight in a few weeks that humans could eat their meat.  And the taste of which is mandatory.  On the other hand, food for large animals started to be prepared in the name of Wanda, in which soybeans and other valuable crops were used.  This special food called Vanda started making the animals gain weight quickly and then it seemed like a revolution in the farming industry.

Currently, 14.2 million metric tons of poultry are imported worldwide.  And for the next few years, the world's poultry requirement alone is expected to reach 153.85 metric kilotons, and the need for more farming is already being felt.  Currently, 136 million chickens are slaughtered in the world every day. At this time, the United States is the leading country in the world consuming more chicken, where 15,000 metric tons of chicken meat is consumed every year.

KFC is considered to be at the top of the world's largest chicken consumption giants.  If we talk about KFC alone, 2300 million chickens are supplied from farms in this one place.  And every minute KFC is selling 400 units through its chain.

In view of the growing needs of the poultry industry, a lot of work has been done on it in Pakistan as well.  In the last ten years, Pakistan has seen an increase in the consumption of poultry industry at the rate of 11% per annum.  According to PPA, an investment of 11 trillion rupees has been made in this industry so far.  Currently, there are around 15,000 poultry farms across Pakistan from which 1245 kg of chicken is produced annually.  As the poultry industry grew in the world, so did its outlets.  Unfortunately, except for frozen chicken, there are live chicken outlets and shops in Pakistan that are not properly representing this valuable industry.

The way in which chicken is slaughtered in the shops is strictly against hygiene standards.  Flies, filth and stench are hallmarks of any chicken shop.

But there is a shop in Islamabad which is working as a model for this industry.  Although the meat rate is slightly high, the cleanliness, cutting of meat on the machines, and branding not only distinguish this shop, but the atmosphere also compels people to stay longer.

In the form of modern and hygienic shops, not only the consumption of chicken in Pakistan is expected to increase further, but it will also increase the confidence in the product among people who believe that chicken meat may cause many physical problems.  Although this perception is now nothing more than a myth that chicken meat causes negative hormones in the body or it damages the body's immune system.  Otherwise, its consumption and use would not have been the highest in a country like America
