The Secretary General of the United Nations can make an important appeal during his visit to Pakistan

I will appeal for massive assistance from the international community during my visit to Pakistan: Antonio Guterres


United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres said that he will appeal to the international community for massive aid to Pakistan during his visit.

Speaking to reporters at the United Nations headquarters in New York, he said that one-third of Pakistan is affected by floods and he is going to Pakistan to express solidarity with the Pakistani people and appeal for massive help from the international community.  Because at this time Pakistan needs full assistance from the international community.

 He said that he is appealing to the international community for immediate assistance to the flood-affected people of Pakistan.  There is so much focus on the war in Ukraine right now because people have forgotten that the real war is dealing with climate change, Pakistan, Chad, and the Horn of Africa, where drought is leading to famine, the biggest threat right now.  What needs to be addressed are the effects of climate change.

 Antonio Guterres said that the situation that Pakistan is facing today, another country may face even more difficult situations tomorrow.  Thinking would just be suicide.
