A new type of mafia in Islamabad. Government machinery unaware?

The federal capital of Pakistan is in the possession of the junk mafia.

Ahmad Saghir - Islamabad

Owners of old goods and scrap warehouses employ children.

On the streets and roads of capital Islamabad, children are scaring the owners of junk warehouses by buying old items from people.

C
hild labor is considered both cruelty and crime all over the world, but in Islamabad it is a major source of business growth.

Government and law enforcement agencies are silent, reasons for silence unknown.

Pakistan is among the top 20 countries in the world where child labor is practiced.  There are many occupations where child labor is considered mandatory, including car workshops, motorcycle and bicycle mechanics shops, barber shops, tea shops, grocery stores, truck and vehicle conductors or cleaners, carpet weavers,  Mining, road building industry.  Pakistan has seen a rapid increase in the number of children picking garbage in recent times.  But at the same time in a city like Islamabad, the profession of begging from children has also increased, but now for some time the trend of buying old goods has increased rapidly.

As the recycling industry has taken root in Pakistan as well as the rest of the world, instead of throwing away many household items, people now prefer to sell them.  Plastic and cardboard bottles or cans, waste pipes made of iron, seria.  Old iron chairs, heaters, geyser appliances, kitchen stoves, iron cupboards, doors and lamps are the items that have huge warehouses in and around Islamabad where these items are repaired and resold.  These are the places where such children are hired, they are given a hand-made cart and they shout in the streets and tell people to sell their wares to them.

These children not only buy goods but also act as a spy network for these people.  These children go home to buy things and get to know where the children live, who lives on rent and who has their own house.  Who they pass this information on to and why they get it is still a mystery.  Acc
ording to some people, the information given by these children is said to be involved in robberies and kidnappings in their areas.  Whether this is true or false is best decided by the police and law enforcement intelligence agencies, but it can certainly be a lead.
