Climate Change: Dangers on Pakistan's Doorstep (Investigative Report)

For a long time, the domestic experts and the international community were shouting that Pakistan has become the third most dangerous country in the world due to climate change. The international community has realized the long-term dangers posed by climate change and global warming.  Is.  That's why "World Watch Institute" and Britain's Chief Scientific Advisor, David King, are calling climate change a bigger threat than terrorism, but what a tragedy it is that neither the world experts nor the world forum can make us realize this.  We have succeeded in realizing that we are indeed in the "red zone" due to climate change.  Now that we are surrounded by natural disasters in the form of floods, the thought arises in the heart that will we now reconsider our shortcomings?

On October 31, 2021, a global conference started in Glasgow, Scotland under the auspices of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, in which 197 countries including Pakistan participated from around the world, has the main purpose of the planet Earth.  It was to formulate recommendations to deal with the threats posed by climate change.  In this conference, countries affected by climate change were warned to take appropriate measures.  Around the same period, another global think tank, "German Watch", also compiled a report on the same subject under the supervision of international experts, whose focus was to review the weather conditions and natural disasters related to them from 2000 to 2019.  .  In which it was revealed that due to climate change, the world economy has lost 2,56 billion dollars.

In the same report, in the Global Climate Index of German Watch, Pakistan, the fifth largest country in the world in terms of population, was ranked eighth in the list of countries affected by climate change by international organizations.  In the same report, German Watch also revealed that after the Philippines and Haiti, Pakistan is the country most and permanently affected by natural disasters such as floods due to climate change.  52% of the loss is due to climate change alone.  Moreover, from 2000 to 2019, 173 natural disasters have occurred in Pakistan due to climate change.  In another report, experts have also said that due to climate change, among other factors, the greatest risk is in the form of floods, which is due to the rapid rise in temperature on the planet and the abnormal melting of glaciers.

How long?  : This and countless similar reports have been screaming and trying to confuse us.  The report of the Senate Committee on Science and Technology of 2015 must be present in the record, in which the committee had warned the government that the temperature in the north and south of Pakistan is likely to increase by three to five degrees in the coming decades.  .Which could result in a terrible disaster. Time proved that the government would have ignored the report of this committee and entered the office.  As a result, unpredictable rains, floods, droughts, earthquakes, landslides, alarming reduction in groundwater levels and melting glaciers have led to climate change.  In fact, this is our tragedy that the whole world is declaring the problem as a bigger threat than terrorism.

The alert is from 2010: It is the law of nature that it gives every conscious person the opportunity to recover again and again before putting it to the test, but if human beings do not take these opportunities of nature into account, then the punishment of Allah will come.  Who can stop it?  Almost every year after 2010, there have been floods in some area of Pakistan. This flood in 2010 was named as "Pakistan Super Flood 2010".  There was also a financial loss.  According to the data of NDMA, 8 million people of Punjab were affected by this flood, while the province also had to bear a financial loss of Rs. 90 crore. In Sindh, 36 lakh people were affected, while there was a financial loss of Rs.  Similarly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had to bear a financial loss of 3.5 billion with 1,000 deaths.  Seven lakh people of Balochistan were affected by the super flood and the province had to bear a financial loss of 19 crore rupees.

In Pakistan, where floods are causing loss of life and money every year, the problem of famine is also becoming a sign of danger for the country.  Things are getting worse.  Since its severity and the number of affected areas are increasing moment by moment, it is not possible to estimate the serious loss of life and property.  Then we should always be prepared for all kinds of situations.
