Cover stories making waves in Pakistan: A selection of Ahmad Saghir’s cover stories

This journey is not only about writing but also about the difficulties, problems and troubles that a writer faces.  

He makes both friends and enemies when he writes the truth, there was a time when there were fewer TV-channels and more news papers in Pakistan.  Back then, people preferred to read newspapers.  People of a certain age have not forgotten the pleasure and charm of reading the cover story published in the Sunday magazine at the breakfast table on Sunday.  Ahmad Saghir’s cover stories were also fun for a while.  On Sundays, if his cover story were not found on the breakfast table, the day seemed to be incomplete.  People wrote letters to the editor, telephones started ringing in the newspaper office that this time their favorite cover story writer was missing.  Due to this popularity of Ahmad, he would remain in the newspaper world despite being in the state TV.

On the martyrdom of Benazir, late Masood Malik, who was the group editor of Osaf newspaper, requested Ahmad Saghir to publish a special edition, so write something that the fans of Benazir Bhutto will remember for the rest of their lives.

People framed this special edition in their homes and even today people have not forgotten this writing.  Apart from this, Ahmad Saghir wrote many cover stories, History of Journalism was a story that is used as a reference by mass communication students.

Ahmad Saghir wrote fiction as well as facts, he wrote a true story about Bazar Hasan which readers repeat till today. He wrote the story of Tanga and Faqir and received a lot of praise and earned fame.

Apart from this, Ahmad Saghir also wrote on many international issues.  He also wrote on the conflict between civilizations and religions, he also wrote about the situation in the Middle East, he also discussed the American elections and brought other problems in the world to the fore in his writings.

As a journalist, Ahmad Saghir has always valued the political, defense and economic relations between Pakistan and China.  He believes that the dream of regional development cannot be realized unless a strong communication network is established.  He wrote in this article long ago that it is only trade, which can be make pakistan great not war.  In this cover story, Ahmed also wrote in the context of military exercises between Pakistan and China , he emphasised that strong economics is equally important for a strong defence.

Writing a review of an entire year is not considered an easy task, once no one in the entire newspaper was willing to take up this task, it requires a lot of research and study, although Ahmad Saghir was associated with PTV and  He used to write on cover stories or such burning issues only to satisfy his taste, but this time the chief editor made a special request that Ahmed would write this year's review.  Ahmad Saghir took this assignment as a challenge and wrote a review of the entire year.  After that, Ahmad Sagheer continued to perform these duties for many years.

Ahmad Saghir’s writing journey does not end here, but from here he chooses new challenges for himself. He was associated with State TV for two decades, but during this period he himself was always bound by restrictions.  Realized, every time he was suspended from his job for the crime of writing, all the time was charge sheeted and faced many problems, but he continued to face it all, never panicking.  Every time he was charge sheeted, his courage increased, his fear disappeared, and one day he decided to throw away the cloak of fear and resigned from the job.  But many stories were made, many kinds of rumors were spread.  Many people were happy, their heart's desire was fulfilled, but a few people were also sad because they knew that the working of the government TV would not stop, but the organization would lose a worker who was creative and used to take rock and now.  They used to walk with him.
